my book.

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

My book arrived last week.  How strange and exciting to be finally done, though I need to fix some things and order another copy.
I am more proud of this book than anything I have ever made.  When I flip though it and see the whole story laid out, I am overwhelmed by how freaking lucky I am [...]

friday.

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I’m so glad it’s Friday.
Just got an email that my book’s printing has been delayed
but they are giving me $10 off my next book (sweet!)
Started reading the saddest/most hopeful blog ever.
A man whose baby was born and wife died,
all within 27 hours.
This weekend:
maybe going to comfest
maybe going to Easton (need a dress for a wedding!)
going to [...]

my book.

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I finally finished my book.  I started it last February, but I’ve really been going at it for about 9 months, and now it’s finally finished and ordered.

It’s called ”love in the heart-shaped state” and it’s the story of Funnel & Jen.

It ended up being 314 pages long and it’s a compilation of all of our photos, [...]

###
I have never been so thankful for the weekend.  Yesterday felt like the very last lap of the 3200 on a hot day, when all your muscles are burning and you don’t care about winning the race.. you just want to be done with it.  (I’m being dramatic, but I made a stupid mistake at work [...]

weekend.

For the longest time, I could only knit rectangles (scarves, dishclothes, etc.) but now I am almost done with my first non-rectangular creation: a baby hat!

I joined a knitting/crotcheting group at church that is working on making baby items for a crisis pregnancy center.  Pretty neat.
I’ve had a good weekend.. I got to see my [...]

memories.

Monday, January 7th, 2008

It’s 2008, and I’ve been reflecting not only on the last year, but my whole life.  Memory is a funny thing.  I was just thinking about how fuzzy things get the further you get away from them.  Events beome little disjointed snippets and I can’t remember conversations that meant the world to me at the time, [...]

sabbatical.

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

This weekend I became aware of my need to go on sabbatical.
Yesterday I spent 8+ hours doing exactly what I wanted to do and I still got so little done.  How horrible (because I want to make headway! progress!) and how wonderful (because it means that my little project is so much bigger than I expected).  [...]

Mittwochmorgen (wednesday morning).

A timid child, I obeyed my parents’ rule not to enter the woods that bordered on our property, but sometimes I stood at the edge and looked in.
One evening I walked about ten feet into the woods and stopped. I saw the fading sun filtered though the overgrowth, striking the ground in shafts of [...]
