{ crustless spinach & mushroom quiche }

Monday, March 21st, 2011

I LOVE quiche, but… it’s not the healthiest thing to eat for breakfast.  This version of quiche is crustless, which definitely helps cut the calories.  If you try it, let me know what you think! It’s my version of this recipe.

Crustless Spinach & Mushroom Quiche

1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1/2 package of mushrooms, sauteed in [...]

{ birthday cupcakes }

Monday, March 14th, 2011

There’s a quote from Winnie the Pooh that goes, “Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”
I think it should go, “Nobody can be uncheered with a cupcake.”

{ let us rejoice & be glad }

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

As I was making birthday cupcakes for my co-worker this morning, I opened my carton of eggs to find this sweet reminder:

“This is the Day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
- – Psalm 118:24

{ cherry pie }

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Cherry pies are my absolute favorite kind of pie.  Especially with some really tart cherries.  Last summer my mom bought a bunch of cherries and gave me enough to make three cherry pies!  They’ve just been hanging out in my freezer.. until today.

It’s killing me to not cut myself a piece, but I’m waiting for [...]

{ giant m&m cookies }

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Growing up, my favorite thing about going shopping with  my mom was getting to eat one of those enourmous M&M cookies from The Original Cookie Co.   I’ve never found a recipe for an M&M cookie that has tasted as good as those mall cookies… until yesterday!  I baked a batch of these using the pretty pastel Easter [...]

{ really a lovely week }

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

Valentine’s Week has been great –  because of the weather (it was 62 degrees yesterday.  in OHIO.  in FEBRUARY.) and time spent with my Valentine.
On Valentine’s Day, Funnel had to work 2nd shift, so I made him some Nutella crepes when he got home (reminiscent of the ones we had in Paris), following these directions. Yum!
Then [...]

{ boeuf bourguignon }

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

I have wanted to make Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon for awhile now – ever since I saw the movie “Julie and Julia” a year and a half ago and became slightly obsessed with Julia Child.  But I didn’t have a dutch oven, which is pretty important for making this.  For Christmas this year, my parents [...]

{ a romantic french dinner }

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Feeling inspired by Valentine’s Day, Julia Child & our visit to France last year, I decided to cook a romantic French dinner for Funnel tonight – Julia Child’s boeuf bourguignon with an orange-infused creme brulee for dessert.
It was an all-day adventure – the boeuf bourguignon alone takes about five hours to make  - but cooking [...]

{ pb&j heart cookies }

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Peanut butter & jelly – a classic combination!  When I saw these cookies in my February 2011 issue of “Martha Stewart Living”, I definitely wanted to try them… pb&j is usually my sandwich of choice when I pack my lunch, so I knew I would like these.  I thought they were pretty tasty and super [...]

{ dried cranberry shortbread hearts }

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

This morning, I made Martha Stewart’s Dried Cranberry Shortbread Hearts. I’ve loved shortbread cookies since  my parents brought some home from Scotland when I was a little girl.  These are delicious, albeit a little messy & crumbly, and they kick off the first of hopefully a few valentine’s recipes I will be trying in the next month.

Dried [...]
