quilt.

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I’m thinking that my next big project is going to be a patchwork quilt.  I’ve never made one before, and I want to try it because it’s such a practical thing to make.  I’ve been looking through a lot of really beautiful patterns, but really, I just want to find a pattern for a simple [...]

Yesterday, Funnel and I went thrifting.  We hit four stores and at the very last one, Funnel found this amazing, distressed, shabby-chic, orange desk that had just been brought in the day before.  He showed it to me and we talked about how we didn’t have room in our apartment for it, but then we decided [...]

lost, but not forgotten.

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Today I discovered this painting by Isaac Bushkin.  The title of it is “Lost but not Forgotten.”  I was really taken with it and stared at it for a long time.  ((It reminds me of this video.)) My heart hurts for that little bird.
I go through phases of my life where I feel like my emotions are on steroids.  I [...]

tiny hedgehog!

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Hegehogs are apparently are the new birds in the crafting world.  There were several vendors at the Tiny Canary show that were selling hedgehog stuff.
I bought 2 ornaments (one of them must have fallen out of my bag at the show because it wasn’t there when I got home ) and a couple of hedgehog [...]

“Float” by Jennifer Davis
Last weekend we were in Indianapolis.
This weekend I am sewing robots and dinosaurs to try and sell at the garage sale next weekend and on etsy.com.
I want to catch up on the “Big Love” episodes I’ve been downloading and clean the apartment and relax and read.
I am looking forward to it. [...]

My Grandpa Bill, my mom’s dad, is in the hospital. He has been for a couple of weeks now, and I guess his kidneys are failing. My mom and all of her siblings went down to South Carolina last week to see him and it’s not looking very good. If you think of it, pray [...]

Springtime and hedgehogs.

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

We had spring for a few days in Ohio.
This includes a day of 69-degree weather, a night of thunderstorms, two rounds of Frisbee golf, lots of lomo photos, wearing a tank-top and being too hot for more than a sheet.
It’s supposed to get cold again this weekend.
I am excited for the next few months and [...]

I’m calling it “office art”.
###
I’ve had a number of good talks this week.
One over a pomegranate martini.
One over some greasy chinese.
One over a bag of animal crackers.
Humans (at least the ones I know) are alike in these ways:
We all are more fragile than others might guess.
We all are trying to do the best we can [...]

chilly willy nilly.

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Ohio pretty much sucks right now.
It is cold and cold is bad for my already-poor circulation.
My rings are loose on my fingers and
my toes are always numb, even now, when I have been inside a decently warm building for a good four hours.
It might even be as cold as it was when I went to Budapest [...]
