{ sewing project: dresden plate }

Friday, May 27th, 2011

I’ve loved the The Dresden Plate/Circle  design ever since I saw my friend Jen sewing one while ago.  It was a really popular quilt design in the 1920’s and 1930’s and I think it’s so fun and pretty.

{ sewing project: cathedral pillow }

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I’ve been working on this little cathedral pillow for a few weeks and it’s finally finished!

I used this tutorial from Warmth in the North to make the pillow.  Cathedral quilts involve a lot of folding & ironing (it’s basically origami with fabric) and a lot of hand-sewing, so it was a time-consuming (but fun) project. [...]

{ wisp }

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Early today, I met up with my parents for lunch in the little town of Granville. We found a new, really cute little yarn shop called “Wisp” owned by a British lady.  I loved the muted tones of all the yarn she had there.  It was a really lovely little store and made me want [...]

{ wee wonderfuls }

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

One of my favorite crafty blogs is “Wee Wonderfuls.”  Everything Hillary Lang makes is absolutely darling and she also has a store where you can buy her adorable little doll and embroidery patterns.  Here are a few that I love:

I finally broked down and bought a pattern for these precious little bunnies… they melted my heart with their [...]

{ dahlia brooch }

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

When I saw a link to this darling dahlia brooch tutorial on J. J. Heller’s blog, I decided it would be a fun craft for this weekend.   It took me a few hours to finish -longer than I thought – but that is probably because I sewed it instead of gluing it together.
Here’s how [...]

{ columbus arts festival }

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

On Friday, Funnel and I went on a date to our local wing joint and then downtown to the Columbus Arts Festival.  The Arts Festival is one of the things I look forward to most each summer.  Artists from all over the country come, and you can stroll around with a glass of wine or [...]

{ summer project: sewing nook }

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I am so excited about one of my summer projects:
fixing up my sewing nook.
Right off of our kitchen is a large closet that was originally supposed to hold our washer and dryer.  But when we bought the house, Funnel and I decided that the noise and mess of a tiny laundry room spilling into the kitchen wasn’t such a [...]

{ oliver the valentine’s day owl }

Friday, January 29th, 2010

After work last night, I was exhausted.  I just wanted to lay on the couch under a blanket and watch some  movies on Funnel’s Xbox that I had queued up through Netflix.   As I started my movie, my hands felt empty as I lay there.  I needed to do something – sew, knit,  journal.  I was rummaging [...]
