{ wee wonderfuls }

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

One of my favorite crafty blogs is “Wee Wonderfuls.”  Everything Hillary Lang makes is absolutely darling and she also has a store where you can buy her adorable little doll and embroidery patterns.  Here are a few that I love:

I finally broked down and bought a pattern for these precious little bunnies… they melted my heart with their [...]

{ 27 }

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

As far as birthdays go, this one was great -flowers, balloons, cake, cookies, cards, hugs, well-wishes: I felt very loved. (which is the very best birthday gift.)

I was thinking today about twenty-seven – what I want out of it and what it might hold for me.  It made me really excited.  Because even though life can be [...]

{ jen vs. food }

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

One of the things on my “Bucket List” is to complete an eating challenge, like Adam Richman on “Man vs. Food.”  (We are obsessed with that show!)  Last year, I made two attempts:
Attempt #1: The Ohio Deli’s Dagwood Sandwich – a 2.5 pound  sandwich with a pound of fries that must be downed in 30 [...]

{ crustless spinach & mushroom quiche }

Crustless Spinach & Mushroom Quiche

1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1/2 package of mushrooms, sauteed in [...]

{ early birthday celebration }

My parents (and Pete & Gracie – the most awesome dogs in Ohio) came for a weekend visit to celebrate my birthday (March 29th) and my dad’s birthday (March 25th).  We had a fun weekend… we ate good food, watched “Secretariat”,  went on some walks around the neighborhood, did a little bit of shopping, exchanged gifts, [...]

{ birthday cupcakes }

Monday, March 14th, 2011

There’s a quote from Winnie the Pooh that goes, “Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”
I think it should go, “Nobody can be uncheered with a cupcake.”

{ let us rejoice & be glad }

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

As I was making birthday cupcakes for my co-worker this morning, I opened my carton of eggs to find this sweet reminder:

“This is the Day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
- – Psalm 118:24

{ square foot gardening }

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

I’m really excited about gardening this year.  I think it will be a really fun hobby and I’m also looking forward to all the fresh food we’ll be able to enjoy. Last year, I did just a little bit of gardening (some tomato & pepper plants and herbs in pots on our front stoop), but [...]
