{ birthday & some house news }

{ birthday }  As of Sunday, I am officially a twenty-five year old.  Funnel & I went to Massillon for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and my dad’s birthday.  Jon & Heather came home and on Saturday night we all went out for dinner with my aunt, uncle, and my cousins and their husbands.    Other activities included a round of frisbee golf with my parents, a tag sale at a neat old house and watching some America’s Funniest Home Videos.  ((In another post, I’ll show you the gifts my crafty mom made me)).

Sunday night when we got back, Funnel took me out to dinner.  I got to choose the place, and I considered someplace nice, but what I really was craving was a big plate of nachos- so Rooster’s was the obvious choice.  Chili, nacho cheese, onion, green peppers, tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa.  Oh man.  They were the best birthday nachos.

Here are a couple of photos that I took Sunday with my aunt’s fisheye lens, which she loaned to me.

More photos to come later, maybe.

Oh, and twenty-five resulted in another hideous drivers license photo.

{ house } Funnel and I put in a bid on a house!  We’re trying to not get our hopes up because someone might have beat us to the punch, but I can’t help but be really excited.

We’ve been looking at foreclosures online for months, and have been visiting houses in person for a couple weeks, and this is the nicest house we’ve found in our price range..  It’s been on the market six days, and we knew if we didn’t swoop it up, someone else would.

((the listing photo)).

As you can see from the picture, it had some roof damage over the garage from the wind storm we had last fall, as well as some siding damage and all of the shutters need replaced ((Funnel & his dad would do all of that)). The inside needs new flooring throughout and paint ((all the walls are white)).  We would do some work in the kitchen ((painting the cabinets, new countertops)) and eventually, we would give the bathrooms a facelift.  I am so thankful that all of those things are fairly inexpensive, and that the house is overall in great shape. ((you should see some of the other foreclosures we looked at… most were a mess)).

We did the calculations and the monthly mortgage payment, insurance, and taxes would be equal to our monthly apartment rent payment, which was our goal.  That is so amazing to me.  What a great time to buy a house!

I made this map to show you where the house is in relation to Columbus and some other places.. my job, Funnel’s parents’ house, church, etc.  I didn’t put Funnel’s job on there because he’s at a different store every week.

But… with all that said, we might not get it if someone got their bid in before ours.  So now we wait to hear back from the bank that currently owns it.  If we get the go-ahead, the next step will be getting it inspected, but if not, we’re back to house hunting.  We’ve prayed about it and we believe that if we’re supposed to have it, we will, and if someone else put in a bid before us, then it wasn’t the right house for us.  So, we’d appreciate some prayers, finger-crossing, rubbing of your lucky pig, sprinkling of house-dust…  we should know Friday whether it’s ours or not.

P.S. I’m sorry that I have been a bad blog-commenter/email-backer person lately.  I’ve been swamped with everything that’s going on.  Please forgive me!

    Glad to see the dot marked “Funnel’s Parent’s House” made the map! We’re praying…very exciting indeed. : )
    Nice fish lens too! (Funnel’s expression is funny.)
    25 is a great age to be! Not too old yet, not too young. Wisdom seems to start multiplying when you hit the quarter century mark.
    LOVED the circle fabric decorations too – you always find the cutest things! love you.

    Your dogs are cockapoos, right? My boyfriend swears by cockapoos. I think if it weren’t for them, he’d be a completely cat person. I am trying to indoctrinate him into enjoying other breeds of dogs. Your thoughts? If your dogs are cockapoos, what is so great about them?
