- being in the very same town at the very same time as Steve Carell.
- my mom seeing Steve Carrell in his rental car.
- my failed attempt to make an asian noodle salad.
- my disdain for Kroger.
- our future video game themed basement.
- my disdain for the bank that owns “our” house.

{ wish }

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I make wishes whenever I can.  On stars and birthday candles and at 11:11.  But my favorite is to wish on a dandelion.

((top two taken by me, bottom one taken by funnel.  on a walk in the schoolyard across the street)).

{ john & ali }

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Our friends, John & Ali, from Contrast Images Photography asked me to do a photo shoot of them for their “about us” section of their website and a promotional book they are putting together.
Funnel & I had lunch with them at Bob Evans and then we headed over with them to Canal Winchester for a [...]

{ monkey neighbors }

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Funnel & I have discovered that three of our future neighbors are monkeys.  Literally.
Last time we visited the house, we heard these strange “whooping” noises coming from across the street.  We concluded that our neighbors had pet birds.
Today, when we went to look at the house with my parents, we heard the noises again,  much louder [...]

{ an anne shirley kind of day }

Friday, April 17th, 2009

I love this time of the year.  My window is open and in the hour or so that I’ve been sitting here, I’ve heard an ice cream truck circulate my neighborhood, a flock of geese take off from our pond, and a bunch of little girls shrieking and playing in the parking lot.
It’s the little things.

{ home }

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

 After two weeks of waiting, the house is ours.

It won’t officially be ours until the endish of May, but for all intents and purposes ((and assuming we can jump through all the hoops that await us)) it is.
We should be living in our little house, in our little neighborhood, in Pataskala, Ohio in just over a [...]

Please read part 1, part 2 and part 3 first.  Thank you.
. . . . . . . . . .
My cell phone rang.  Brentwood Lake Apartments.
“Is this Jen?” the girl asked.
“Yes…”
 ”We solved your mystery.  You’re apartment 2760, right?”
“Yes…”
“The model is 2750.  I just took a prospective client over to take a look at it, [...]

{ Intruder: Part 3 }

Please read part 1 and part 2 first. Thank you.
- – – – – – – – – – -
As I was getting ready for bed, I couldn’t shake the weird feeling of knowing an unwelcome person had been in our apartment earlier that day.
I decided we must do what I always did back when [...]

{ Intruder: Part 2 }

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Please read part 1 first. Thank you.
. . . . . . . . .
I called our apartment office. Drat. No one’s there. They’ve closed for the day. At the end of the answering machine message, it gave a number for the emergency on-duty night manager. Is this an emergency? Screw it. It definitely is.
The [...]

{ Intruder: Part 1 }

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I love a good mystery to solve, especially if it’s a true story. What you are about to read is a true mystery that involves me, my husband, a vacuum and an intruder. I will publish this story in several parts, for extra suspense.
. . . . . . . .
Tuesday night, I got home [...]
