{ summer is coming }
A quick update on a few things:
{ photography } Wedding season 2009 kicks off tomorrow with a wedding near Toledo that I am helping Ali, from Contrast Images, with. I love getting to be the “2nd shooter” in a wedding because it is less pressure, and I get a chance to get a little more creative than I usually do. I will be using my Canon, Dan’s Canon (Funnel’s dad), and my Holga.
I’m impatiently waiting on my Canon 50D, which should arrive sometime next week. So, so, so excited.
I’ve been thinking of doing some kind of photography project, similar to “the ones we love” or “where we’re from“. I want to do a photo essay of people or places, but I’m not sure in what capacity. Possibly opening it up to submissions from other people – a community art project. I’d welcome any ideas.
…………………
{ house } We’re moving along in our house-buying process. Funnel applied for a pre-approval, and I took some time off work yesterday so we could meet with our realtor, Alice. Alice is a friend of the Frederick family, and we are excited to work with someone we know and trust.
She’s been sending us listings daily that meet our criteria, and sometime next week, we’re going to start going out to walk through the ones we are interested in.
Personally, I am drawn to older homes. I think I got this from my mom, who loves old houses, and also my love for Anne of Green Gables & the early 1900’s. I have always envisioned myself living in a really old, adorable house in the country. Funnel is a little wary of older homes because of all the problems they might have, but he is open to at least considering them. This one is the one I am most excited about looking at next week. I think it looks like it is right out of Avonlea:

But when it comes down to it, I am not all that picky. I just want something in a nice area, that’s bigger than our apartment, and that we can build some equity in. We’re okay with something that needs a lot of work, or has ugly wood paneling and shag carpeting because those things can be easily fixed.
…………………
{ life } Life is good at the moment. Funnel is enjoying his new job, and they just moved him to the same town that I work in, so the days that he is on first-shift, we can drive together. I get in such a good mood just thinking about the warmer weather coming up and all of our favorite Columbus summery things that we love to do.

I’m glad to hear that things are going so well. Good luck with the house hunting. It’s a fun (but stressful) process.

Riding to work together ROCKS! I love riding to work with Brent, its usually so much fun! And so nice not to drive when the roads are bad. We share so many laughs in the car.
