This morning I ordered my new camera… the Canon 50D. 

I probably could have upgraded my camera awhile ago, but I was determined to buy the camera out of my photography earnings.  I wanted to feel like I really “earned” the new camera, I didn’t want to dip into our house fund, and I’m also a little anti-credit cards (I don’t even own a credit card). So waiting was the way to go.   I really felt a sense of accomplishment when I hit the “buy” button.  This is the biggest purchase I’ve ever made (aside from when Funnel and I bought our cars.)  A special thanks to Mom & Dad who gave me some Christmas money to put towards my camera!

I’m still going to rock out my trusty Canon Rebel XT.  I’ll bring it to weddings as my backup, and I’ll keep my fixed 50mm lens on it for detail shots.  It’s a great little camera, and it holds a lot of sentimental value to me as well. 

I was hoping the 50D would get here by next weekend so I could use it for the wedding Ali & I are shooting, but I am trying to be practical and expect that it won’t.  Either way, there will be lots of photos to come, I’m sure!
