kirpi’s birthday.
Kirpi’s first birthday is coming up soon.
It wasn’t too long ago that she looked like this (although we never got to see her that small):
I am trying to decide what the appropriate response is to a hedgehog’s first birthday. It must be acknowledged, for sure.
I found a cake mold online to make a hedgehog-shaped cake and a recipe for hedgehog cupcakes, hideous as they are, with their sliced-almond quills. ((I’m sure Kirpi would be happy with a scrambled egg or some mealworms.))
Maybe a reading of Hedgie’s Suprise, by Jan Brett, and definitely some sort of miniature party hats for Kirpi and her friends ((the porcupine puppet and her little clone, the hedgehog Christmas ornament.))

a scrambled egg sounds like the perfect birthday treat to me! So long as there are party hats and a story of course.

man, seeing pictures of kirpi makes me think how i still want a hedgehog, even though i have too many pets already. hmmm…someday for sure.
