wedding attire, revisited.

I think it was on PostSecret awhile ago that someone said whenever they are having a bad day, they come home and put on their wedding dress.  I don’t do that (because my wedding dress is at my parents’ house and also, it’s kind of a pain to get into because it’s so heavy and needs laced up in the back), but I can see how that can be kind of theraputic.  I felt pretty in my wedding dress.

When I was in Massillon a couple of weeks ago, I decided to bring my wedding dress out of its puffy, pink bag and try it on.  It still fit, and it was nice and clean because my mom had it dry-cleaned.  I hadn’t really looked at it since the wedding and I felt like giving myself a photography challenge of trying to photograph my dress and bouquet.  Here is what I came up with:

A self-portrait.  I like the way the light was shining through the bedroom window.  The train is really long and that’s what all that fabric is, bunched up at my feet:

I found out that in the mennonite culture, women wear their wedding dress to church every year on the Sunday closest to their wedding anniverary (as long as it still fits!) Their dresses are a lot simpler, so it doesn’t look out of place at church.  It’s a really neat, romantic tradition.

    You dress is so gorgeous!

I didn’t know your bouquet was artificial flowers. Or do you carry a bouquet of real flowers, and then they make a duplicate/artificial bouquet for you to keep forever?

Was it hard to dance around in your wedding dress at the reception?

    Thanks Jamie!

Sarah – yeah my bouquet is artificial.. my mom made it! She is super crafty.

Yes! It was hard to dance it. It was soooo heavy. Also, the seamstress bustled it, but didn’t do a good job, so the train was dragging around on the dance floor the whole time.. it was pretty nasty by the end of the night.
