CM: town.

The town of Cape May is very victorian — tons of ornate, old homes converted into B&B’s.  A victorian house is my dream home (besides an earth-sheltered one), and same with my mom, so I think we were both completely envious of all of the people who get to live in Cape May.

The pricing of houses there is insane.  Most of these houses would probably be half a million in Ohio, but are several million in Cape May.  One of the houses we were looking at was several million, and then the “guest house” behind it (which looked like a detached garage) was for sale for 1 million.

The whole time I was there, I was trying to pick out my favorite house.  The one I loved the most was away from the town and out towards the point (where the lighthouse and Sunset Beach are).  It reminded me of the house from The Notebook.  It had a huge lake in front, with lots of geese in it.  I tried to get a decent photo, but there was so much brush surrounding the lake, this was the best I could do:

it’s very “The Notebook”. I love it. Very pretty, tranquil. hmm. I think that’s how you spell tranquil… at least in Spanish it’s tranquilo. I love all the pictures, but i must say- the cats are amazing.

Well we have very similar taste – my dream home is first and foremost one that is earth covered, with the victorian style such as those in cape may coming in a close, close second.

I was just in Cape May and was curious about real estate and found a VACANT lot on about 1/4 acre. The price? 3.8 million. Insane! The seller told me what typically happens is a bunch of rich New Yorkers will come and bid on the lot and the price will typically go up about another million to a million 1/2. Talk about a great return on an investment!

The folks who live in those houses along beach avenue (i think thats the name) are so rich they don’t even know what to do with all their money, but you are definately right that those types of homes could be built elsewhere for much cheaper.

If my dream home built into a grassy hillside never comes into fruition, perhaps i’ll go take a few photos of Cape May, throw them in front of an architect, and say “Do your magic, but keep it realistic”, hehehe.

Anyways, just looking at the ‘net for some Cape May photos and found this blog – awesome!

    Take care
