trashin’ the dress.

The new trend in wedding photography is a “trash the dress” session.  It’s a post-wedding photo shoot of the bride (and sometimes the groom) and can involve water, mud, sand, fire, paint, etc.

I am still not sure how I feel about this.

I think the photos are glamorous and creative, and it would be a lot of fun to spend a day getting additional photos since the wedding day can be pretty hectic.

But it kind of makes me feel a little uneasy that these beautiful gowns that probably cost thousands of dollars get destroyed.  I already think that weddings have gotten a little out of hand in the past few years anyway and that our culture is rediculously wasteful and excessive.

Personally, I think this would be fun with a cheap-o dress off the clearance rack, but I think I love my wedding dress too much to destroy it!

What do you think?  Could you trash your wedding dress?

I can’t help it, when I look at those pictures, I go “nooooooo!” inside.

I could NEVER trash my wedding dress! I just ordered it a few months ago, and as Jen says, I love it way too much to ruin it! To me, that’s so wasteful!

hmm. i don’t know. … i don’t think you should trash yours, for sure! but i would DEFINITELY do it in a sweet thrift store dress. that would be amazing. heck i would even pretend it was my wedding day and get all fancy so the pictures looked even better!

after looking through every page of that site …. i think i might do it. cause like it says on the site, what are you going to do with it anyways? you’re committed to your husband, and your daughter isn’t going to wear it. its not like you’re going to sell it for money right? so you might as well have fun!

I don’t think I could do it now. But maybe in a few years (if it still fit) and I needed the closet space I might.

okay- changed my mind. my dress will only take up room in my closet- and it may never fit again. i never thought of submerging myself in water- but the rest of the photos are what i always imagined my wedding photos to be… more grass with me though. i think thefire is a little over the top however. i´m down with the earth and eventually the water también.
