yellow springs.

This past Sunday, Funnel and I went to Yellow Springs for the night.  It is one of the best places in the world, and maybe my favorite in Ohio.  It holds so many memories for me.  So do all the places around Cedarville.  I remember the ride home after Funnel graduated last May, I felt sad because it was this chapter of our life that was closing and it was where so much of our story had been written.  I remember being flooded with all these memories — the movie we made there in the cemetary and old junk yard and fields, the mornings we would make pancakes together and play board games all day in his living room, the walks we took in the gorge, the night we tried to sneak into a cow pasture, the drive one of us made every weekend past all the Jesus signs and antique malls and farms.

Some people do not get attached to places, but I am someone who does, and I did not realize that until a couple years ago.

Here are some photos from our little excursion to the best little hippie town in Ohio.  I keep saying that I want to move there, but Funnel said, “If you lived in Yellow Springs, it wouldn’t seem as special.”

We found this guy sitting on a bench with his pet serval.  It’s a jungle cat from Africa and he said it cost him $5,000.

This is Basho, a really cool screen printed tee shirt store.  I bought a hoodie and Funnel bought a shirt.

The Little Art Theater!  We saw Miss Potter, with a bunch of old ladies.

The Arthur Morgan House, our Bed and Breakfast.  The Innkeeper served in the Peace Corp in Africa, so there was a lot of neat African artwork and decorations.  She made the best breakfast ever and we got to eat with some nice people from
Louisiana.

Funnel got some really good shots of these geese.

We found some Morels!  By accident.  When we got home, we cooked them in some butter.  Delicious.

I almost stepped on this massive snake.  It’s a good think my crocodile hunter was there!

We had to stop at Young’s Dairy to see the animals and get a milkshake.

I love the little goats.

Mmm….Morels are delicious! It is such a treat to find them since they have such a crazy short growing season! We sometimes find them out at our land in Coshocton!
