Springtime and hedgehogs.
We had spring for a few days in Ohio.
This includes a day of 69-degree weather, a night of thunderstorms, two rounds of Frisbee golf, lots of lomo photos, wearing a tank-top and being too hot for more than a sheet.
It’s supposed to get cold again this weekend.
I am excited for the next few months and the list we are making of things to do:
the zoo, Comfest, the Arts Festival, Yellow Springs, Cedar Point, Put-In-Bay, Alabama for church camp, Chicago for music, Cleveland.

This morning, I put a deposit down on a baby hedgehog from Millermeade Farms and ten days from today, we will get to pick it out and take it home with us. I am excited. We’re working on setting up a big cage, similar to this one, in our spare room and trying to think of a good name for it. Do you have any suggestions? (so far, we like: Thelma, Winston, Dennis, Prick and Velcro)
I think part of the reason I like Hedgehogs so much is that one of my favorite authors/illustrators when I was little was Jan Brett, and all of her stories have hedgehogs in them.

I miss being creative and I hope I can start some little projects this spring:
- sew some more robots and dinosaurs to sell on etsy.com.
- sew a new spring tablecloth for our kitchen (yellow or green!)
- paint our living room end-tables a different color.
- make a mural of one of our photos, via The Rasterbator (here is an article about it).

You know, I have been thinking about this whole pet name thing. A lot of times, people (especially kids) name their pets after their obvious physical characteristics… either the way their animal looks, what sounds it makes, what it eats, etc.
For example, there are a lot of bunnies named “Carrots” or “Hoppy,” fish named “Bubbles,” dogs named “Fluffy” or “Patch,” snakes named “Slither,” hedgehogs named “Spike” or “Prickles,” etc.
I’ve always wondered if roles were reveresed and WE were the pets, what they would name us.

I am very tempted to name our hedgehog Sonic– it is so so classic. It is like having a pet miniature, green dinosaur and not naming it Yoshi.

Hi, I just linked here from a comment of yours on weddingbee. Once I spotted your hedge, I had to read further. Your “if we were the pets” thought just made my day. Thanks for the laugh.
