Protected: Wedding Hair.
Okay. I need help choosing a hair-do. I had a hair trial a couple of months ago and I felt very “ehhh” about it. It was my fault. I went in not knowing what I wanted, and I showed her a photo of my dress and told her that I wanted the sides twisted back, so I ended up with something that looked like this:

It actually looked pretty cute from the front, but when I turned around and saw the back and sides of it, my heart kinda sank a little. I think it looks kind of Amish/”Little House on the Prarie.” I was telling Danielle about it and I said, “I think I could live with it” and she said, “It’s your wedding, you have to love it.”
So, I’ve been researching some styles and maybe you guys could tell me what you think.
Note: I will be wearing a blue flower in my hair, and my hair probably isn’t as long as most of these brides’ so it will have to be modified a little. I am planning on wearing my veil on top, like this:

Which of these do you like the best?
1.)) Intricate and different:

2.)) Twisted sides (They are hard to see in the first one.) This is what I envisioned when I told my hairdresser to twist the sides:

3.)) Simple and Clean:

4.)) Your basic up-do:

5.)) Pretty and romantic (I am grouping them together because they are all similar):

6.)) A Basic bun:

7.)) A variation on a basic bun:

8.)) Soft and a little messy:

9.)) Big and a little fluffy (I’m not sure if her hair is naturally curly or if they curled it):

This decision would be much easier if my hair was curly, because I would totally wear it like this:

Thank you in advance for helping me decide!!!

danielle’s right…and ya, i didn’t really like it either- it was amish!
i like: the second “twisted sides”, the “pretty and romantic” and the “variation of a simple bun” best.
for you though, i think i would choose the twisted side…but do you think they’ll get it right this time? because you really shouldn’t just be living with it.

Yes, I am afraid to try the twisted sides again, because I really don’t want her to mess it up. Amish is good sometimes, but not in this situation. If I decide to go with it, I’ll have to be very clear. And speak up if it starts looking rediculous. Hmmmm.

Jen -
Well….there are alot of people around me looking at these styles and here is the vote:
Spencer and Alex (Goodwin) like the basic up – do. We all thought that the “big and fluffy” do looked like there could be a chipmunk hiding in it!
Danielle and I are torn: we think we like the basic up do, but really like the front view of the first picture where the bride has her veil on. I would vote the second do on intricate and different. Michaela and Emily liked the second one on the pretty and romantic. Hmmmm….I’m thinking we line up pretty well with Ann’s vote above! Jon-Mark doesn’t care about hair, but said he really liked the Mario and Peach wedding cake.
Love you!!!!

i am not a hair expert by any stretch, but somthing about “simple and clean” is striking me. you could totally ignore my opinion, though… i know not the least bit about hair.

I am a fan of the pretty and romantic choices… especially the second and third ones. I also love the side twists if they do it how you want. Keep in mind with a higher up-do, it will be harder to wear your veil on top. You’re going to look beautiful! Love you!

i like number one or number four the most, i think. i don’t know if i agreed with anyone!! hopefully this doesn’t get more confusing and is instead confirmation that you have a lot of options in terms of still looking great in the hair department!!

Jen,
the first thing you need to do if you like any of these styles, is print the picture out and bring it with you to the hairdresser. it always helps to have a visual of what you really want. ok that said, i really like #7, #6, #5 (the second one), and #2. I am sorry i didn’t write the styles all down, but i think those suit you most. and Cara’s right, the veil would be harder to wear on the top with sides being twisted. just a thought. ok love you and like i have been telling you lately, i am SO exicted for you. Talk to you soon.

Hey Jen! I bet you are getting so excited!!! So, I really like #5 and #6. I think they both would look gorgeous on you! I think 5 would be the best for how you said you’re going to wear your veil so I would go with that one maybe
I can’t wait to see you! Take care

Thank you for helping me decide, everyone! Well, for helping bring me closer to a decision, at least! I am leaning towards #5 (”pretty and romantic”), and I hope it can work on my hair because it is still rather short (shoulder length). The higher updos reminded me a little too much of high school prom/homecoming. I probably won’t know for sure what I am going to do until the day of…

Hey Jen! I picked number 5. I know I’m a little late but it looks like that is what you are thinking also. I think the twists will be a little too much but having a nice clean pull back and a fun do-up in the back will look nice w/ the veil and w/out and just the flower. I can’t wait to see you. I’m very excited. Let Jon and I know if you need anything.
